October 2012

October was great we spent two whole weeks in beautiful, sunny St. George, Utah.  On our way we stopped in Salt Lake to visit with our friends who were in town from Korea. It was a great reunion of our little, China Branch.  We were able to watch BYU football at Brent and Tonya's, see Parker tear it up on the soccer field and enjoy conference at the Packer's place.

St. George was awesome. Terry played on two softball teams in the Huntsman Senior games. We stayed with friends on the team and it was a party for two weeks. Terry's teams did well. The 60's took the silver... only because the championship game was rained out and we didn't get a chance to "play for the ship."  The 55's played well, but ended on a crummy field with bad sun and bad umpiring.  No excuses... haha...  Between games we attended the temple, biked the many trails, played tennis, enjoyed gatherings with friends and relaxed in the pool and hot tub.

Back home for lessons, speaking and Halloween. Pretty busy month.

SEPTEMBER 2012

The first of this month Terry and I parted company for a while..... Terry went with his son, Matt, to do a little bear hunting and, of course, I headed home to Utah.  The bear hunt was successful as was a wonderful visit with my family--happy birthday fun with Lori, pool time and visiting with my lovely, Miss Whitney.  We miss our Braxdon who celebrated number 11!!! After getting back together we headed to Red Fish Lake with our friends for a few days and back to Sun Valley as Terry's dad had a little knee surgery. Off this weekend for softball tourney in Las Vegas and the month is over. Good grief. Someone just told me aging is like a roll of toilet paper.....the closer you get to the end the faster it goes....smile.....why does that have to be soooo true?!

HOLIDAY IN HEBER

The end of August we took the older grand kids, Hallie and Ryker, on a little holiday before school resumed. Year two of this fun tradition took us to Heber, Utah and The Homestead. Whitney was able to get us a delightful room for a reasonable rate and we enjoyed our stay immensely. The kids could have spent the whole time in the swimming pool....smile....and were becoming quite accomplished at diving and flips by the time we left.  Our many activities included a tour of The Joseph Smith Memorial building with accompanying movie, temple square and the conference center. Swimming. Lovely morning breakfasts on the golf course patio as well as feeding the ducks and fish. Swimming. Ride on the Heber Creeper and Dairy Keen. Shopping and a trip to the Winter Sports Park. Swimming. Feeding the goats. Yummy pizza at the Zermatt. Swimming. Campfire branding and stories. Swimming. Topped the trip off with a stop at the Packer Pool for some family fun time, BBQ and, yes, more swimming. AWESOME!

SIXTY ?!?

Someone had a BIG birthday in August. We celebrated at his chosen spot, Red Fish Lake. Terry you are something special and very unique. You make life fun and meaningful.  Cheers to many more years. I love you with all my heart.

WICKED aka Girl's Weekend...

Fun girl's weekend..... Michelle came from Hawaii and Melissa and I joined her for a few days of girl time in Salt Lake City. Oh, I love my city! Whit joined us for some time as well as Grandma Miller and Connie. There was lots of eating involved... and shopping... and staying up late visiting.  Pedicures, movie and the icing on the cake....seeing Wicked. It was great. The girl's were great. Should be the start of a TRADITION for sure.

MARVIN

Terry has a brother from another mother and his name is Marvin Wu. He was our delightful friend and tour director in China. We traveled China with Marvin and always had so much fun. He actually "got" American humor and so he and Terry were entertainment at its finest. He called him brother and me, "sister-in-law." Always puts a smile on my face...as I can hear his voice in the back of my head. The first of August he came to the U.S. for a visit and we took him to Southern Utah for a few days. The Goodrichs joined us and what a great reunion! Marvin is not an emotional personal and he had tears leaving his brother it was so touching. We love him.

July 2012

It is hard going back and blogging for months at a time. So much happening this summer. I wanted to keep up, but I haven't so here we go for July.... now that it's the end of August....smile.

July was a blur. Got together with Whitney and Lori for some post birthday, girl fun. Always love the 4th of July and celebrating our country and our dear Wes.  Terry played softball and won a silver and a gold medal. Pretty good for one tourney.  The Blue Angels and the air show came to town. Amazing.

We packed the truck one day spur of the moment, loaded our bikes and took off for Glacier National Park. IT WAS NOT DISAPPOINTING. Beautiful!! The day we arrived the famous "Going to the Sun" road was closed in the middle because of 13 mudslides the day before. It ended up being wonderful for us because they let us ride up on our bikes and we had the whole park to ourselves. It was uphill to the peak, but so worth it and we saw one other person the entire time. Thinking back after we started...hmmm....alone with the bears. We enjoyed scenic lakes, some kayaking, glacier hikes, wildlife spotting (goats, bighorn sheep, bear and her cubs, moose, deer, birds). Flathead Lake on the way to and from was great and all the little towns in Montana...oh, and of course, fresh raspberry pie and huckleberry shakes. Yummy.

Honestly, I know July was packed and can't even recall what else we had going on. That's why you don't procrastinate the record.
